11 BENEFITS OF MEDITATION

We have been hearing for many years now that meditation can be a tool that everyone can use to feel better, though why is that the case?

According to researchers and studies, there have been consistent findings that meditation can help the system to reset its internal healing mechanisms that lead to a healthier, happier and more efficient life. That all sounds pretty awesome, though what is meditation? Do I have to be secluded on a mountaintop with a pristine view chanting by candlelight at sunset to get all the benefits? Lucky for you, meditation is a skill that can be developed with practice to occur in even the rowdiest of environments, even on the subway. Meditation is the harmonization of the body and mind, so by practicing presence and allowing the breath to be the center of attention, the mind is able to relax, disengaging from the nagging stories of the mind chatter and its other non essential idle ramblings. By bringing the attention back to the breath and allowing our attention to move inward we start this magical process of unwinding. Its quite elegant and rewarding, as it actually changes as well our biochemistry and brainwaves, moving us from a hectic beta brainwave state where -“ I gotta get all this shit done and there’s no time to do it all mode- into, all I gotta do is be right here and I totally got this. Its all perfect just the way it is.” Note that this meditative state is not solely a passive, hippy dippy “It’s all good man, just, ya know, don’t think about it.” It’s fully an activated, clear, calm, open, awareness that “this is the only moment. If I am fully doing being lovingly present here, it will all unfold perfectly.” It’s a super dose of epic optimism. So go ahead, be brave and give yourself permission to drop all the stories and judgments about everything you “should” be doing, and be present to what is really happening. This is the only moment. If you’re going to tell yourself a story you might as well make it a good one. So read on to download some of the benefits you’ll reap by coming back into this moment and breathing.
